Joel Herrera
Joel Herrera, JD
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Joel Herrera, a native Chicagoan and founder of Herrera Law Center, LLC, has dedicated his career to representing workers injured on the job. Since 2003, he has represented injured workers throughout the State of Illinois and has successfully prosecuted cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Circuit Courts and the Illinois Appellate Court. Aside from being an experienced litigator, Joel is also an accomplished negotiator. He obtains millions of dollars annually on behalf of his clients via settlements.
Joel has been a guest speaker on Univision’s “A Tu Lado,” a legal segment on the 10pm news, where he provides legal advice regarding employee rights after sustaining a work injury. He has also appeared as a weekly featured speaker on the radio show “Tu Voz, Tu Derecho,” which aired on AM 1450. Joel discusses a variety of topics and trends as it relates to work injuries.
Outside of the workplace, Joel dedicates much of his free time to the community. Joel regularly volunteers as a speaker on the topic of work injuries for various community groups and organizations.
Lorena Hernandez
Lorena Hernandez, JD
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Lorena Hernandez joined Herrera Law Center, LLC as an associate attorney in July 2016. Prior to joining the firm, Lorena represented clients in a variety of cases including bankruptcy, foreclosure defense and work injuries. In 2013, she focused her career to fighting for the rights of the working class. Lorena is an experienced attorney with a history of zealously representing injured workers throughout the State of Illinois. She has successfully litigated hundreds of cases in front of the Workers’ Compensation Commission and works tirelessly to retrieve every benefit that an injured worker is entitled to under the law. At the conclusion of the case, Lorena assures that her clients are justly compensated for their injuries. She has recovered millions of dollars for her clients.
Lorena was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised by immigrant parents. She is a first-generation American who understands and can identify with the needs of the working class. Her background and life experiences have inspired her to become a fierce advocate for the injured worker.
Carlos Chavez
Carlos Chavez, JD
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Carlos Chavez is an associate attorney at Herrera Law Center. He earned his undergraduate degree (B.A. in Political Science) from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his J.D. from Southern Illinois School of Law.
Carlos dedicates himself to fighting for his client's right to fair compensation for serious and catastrophic work injuries. Carlos understands that the aftermath of an injury can leave an individual with physical, mental, and financial hardships. He prioritizes communication with his clients to alleviate these burdens and ensure that his client's concerns are understood and addressed promptly.
Carlos is a member of the Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association.
Carlos currently resides in Chicago. In his free time, he loves attending sporting events and trying new restaurants.
